Uniquely You – Same Sex Weddings
As a wedding DJ based in Hampshire I have noticed thanks to a great deal of change in society recently, same sex marriage is fast becoming more and more common, which of course is great news for love. If you’re planning a same sex wedding, I am able to help you with everything that you need, however there are certain things that you might need to think about that perhaps you wouldn’t if you were a heterosexual couple.
The first and most simple thing that you need to consider is how you are going to be introduced. Obviously, Mr & Mrs won’t work, so you need to think about how you want to be named. Mr & Mr, Mrs & Mrs, or another variety – you really have the chance to make it as unique as you are, so make sure that you give it some thought.
Not only this, but there are a number of wedding traditions that might not work – at least not in exactly the same way – as they would have done if the couple were opposite sex partners. Things like who walks who down the aisle is something to consider, whether one partner or both are given away, and who (if either) stands at the end of the aisle to wait for the other partner.
The dancing can also bring some issues. The first dance isn’t a problem, but what about the father-daughter dance, or the mother-son dance? Do you want to have your own separate dances, or are you happy to dance with your parents at the same time?
Planning any wedding is always exciting, and with my help you can certainly enjoy a day that is made just for you, that you will always remember. Although there may be one or two things that you have to think about, in the end your day will be shaped around you – to perfection!
