Last Dance Songs
As a Hampshire Wedding DJ & preferred DJ at many venues including the amazing Warbrook House & Grange in Eversley, I have had the privilege of helping to create many emotional & fun endings to a wedding day. Below are some of my thoughts on the end of the night and the last dance.
By the time you get to the actual day of your wedding, chances are you’ve planned everything to the very last detail. You’ll have planned the ceremony, the clothing, the food, and almost everything else that you can have thought of. However, there are a huge
number of people who forget that the flow of the party after the ceremony is just as important as the ceremony itself, if not even more so. There is always the chance that there will be a lot of people at the party who weren’t at the wedding, so it’s vital that you are able to make this event just as romantic and memorable as the rest of the day. The good news is that, with the right help and guidance, you will almost certainly be able to do just that.
When you’re at a party, one of the things that a lot of people are sure to remember is the music that is played during the course of the evening. The first dance is always something that is very memorable, as it is the first time that the newly married couple are able to dance together in front of their loved ones. There are, of course, other dances during the evening like the father/daughter dance, but one dance that often gets overlooked is the one that actually ends the whole evening. The fact that it is overlooked is unfortunate, as it is the last thing that will happen during your wedding party, and is therefore likely to be the things that sticks in the memory of the guests who were in attendance.
There are a number of options that you could think about with regards to the last dance song, and the one that you eventually choose will depend on the type of couple that you are. One option, for example, is to follow the trend that you set at the beginning of the evening and do the same type of dance as the last dance as you did for the first. This could keep hold of the romantic tones of the evening, and is something that your guests could watch, and even join in with if they wished to.
If you would rather keep hold of the party atmosphere and go out with a bang, you may want to choose a more upbeat high energy song, perhaps something that is traditionally played that people can get up and dance to at a party. This will depend very much on the individual taste of the couple, and the guests who are at the party will also influence your decision – the demographic of your audience is always something that you should be thinking about when you’re planning music for a party. Usually, something upbeat can allow the evening to end with fun and laughter; not a bad thing to aim for at all.
If you’re looking for something more fun, you always have the option of choosing a song that reflects where you’re going on your honeymoon. There are many songs written about all different parts of the world, and this is a quirky but non-the-less popular choice with a number of couples who are planning a wedding party.
Another good way to end the night can be a high energy song followed by low energy and then back up to high energy taking in to account the suggestions above but in a combination of three last dance songs, to really get your guests involved at the end of the night. Remember the end of the night is one of the key moments in your wedding day when it needs to be inclusive and include all your guests.
