Back on the 17th July this year we had the pleasure of working for a lovely couple Charlotte & Brian. Their wedding day was unique & tailored to their vision, which started long before they had decided on even on a venue! They had an idea of how they wanted it to feel and a pretty good idea, after looking at many venues, what they didn’t want. Eventually, with a little help from us, it was whittled down to a barn wedding and specifically to Wasing Park, Berkshire.
Wasing Park is an idyllic picturesque wedding venue based in the 18th century parklands of the Wasing Estate, Aldermaston. Ideal for couples looking for either a contemporary or traditional wedding with everything on site including the Parish Church, the Victorian Summerhouse, the elegant Garden Room and the Castle Barn. The venue also includes boutique guest accommodation, featuring an incredible Honeymoon Suite and 25 bedrooms.
The team at the Wasing Park were so helpful and accommodating on the day allowing us to deliver our signature all day wedding DJ service.
Brain & Charlotte’s day got underway with the ceremony in the Garden room with music and coordination supplied by us as part of our all day DJ service. With the entire guests seated in anticipation of the arrival of the bridal party, music preselected by Brian & Charlotte was played which included Celine Dion, Bee Gees, Berlin, The Bangles and Phil Collins plus a trigger song that allowed Brian to know that his beautiful bride was waiting outside Aerosmith and Don’t want to miss a thing.
It was now time for the processional; with the signal that everyone was ready given to the registrar who asked all the guests to stand, with two flower girls and five bridesmaids to precede Charlottes entrance with dad Ian the music started; On this day by David Pomeranz, the processional was paced & timed to perfection as it was important to Charlotte that her entrance with dad was at precisely ninety-eight seconds into the song at the chorus. Once they were married & the register signed, their recessional was to Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I’m Yours by Stevie Wonder edited for maximum energy as the new Mr & Mrs Ross were engulfed by rose petal confetti that had been handed out by my assistant Andrea during the signing of the register.
Next, the drinks reception and photographs were taken by talented photographer Neale James, who went with a more informal style of photography as opposed to lots of group shots. The guests welcomed this with it being a very hot day they were able to seek shade as opposed to standing around excessively in the heat.
The wedding breakfast was held in the Castle Barn with the décor looking stunning supplied by Cherubs and purple up lighters supplied by us, the fun and integrative activities during the meal designed and planned with Charlotte & Brian prior to the big day kept everyone engaged and the room was full of laughter and smiling faces.
After the wedding breakfast, everyone made their way back to the Garden Room for the cake cutting ceremony while the barn was prepared for the evening.
Back in the Castle Barn, the evening commenced Brian & Charlottes Love Story another of our signature pieces designed to engage the entire guests prior to the first dance.
An excerpt from their story
Some five seconds later at 3pm on the 31st December 2015, he returned to the
living room and knelt down on one knee in front of Charlotte as she sat on the sofa
Charlotte just thought “Oh my god this is it!!!!!”
With some words that he had written down on a note, Brian asked Charlotte “will you marry me?”
Charlotte’s answer was of course YES!
Their first dance was to Heaven the Candlelight mix by DJ Sammy and then the Father Daughter dance as Charlotte & dad Ian danced to Walk with you by Edwin McCain followed by a special dance where Charlotte danced with her mum to slippery through my fingers (from Mama Mia) – Meryl Streep & Amanda Seyfried, Partway through joined by rest of the family from both sides.
Like many weddings, the rest of the evening went by in a heartbeat but included a shoe Game (Mr. and Mrs. Game) plus lots of dancing and laughter and when it came to the last dance of the night One More Time by Daft Punk everyone was having so much fun they didn’t want to leave.
“From the very beginning when we first met Alan we knew he was the one!!!! He definitely knows his stuff and he was worth every single penny. We booked Alan and Andrea for the whole day and he was so helpful – even when we were choosing our venue – he was our go to guy for thoughts on venues as he has been it seen it done it! He is so calm and very supportive even when I thought I just needed to know every second the day what would happen! He was more than happy to advise. On the day he got everything done so smoothly! The guests praised him as he kept them informed and entertained whilst we were off having photos. The day couldn’t have gone better and a lot of that was down to him! When it was time to end the evening, we really didn’t want to! If you are deciding whether or not to spend the money – seriously it will be the best money you have ever spent!!! Personally, I believe there are at least 3 things you shouldn’t scrimp on: DJ, photographer and the food. All our guests were so happy with all of those that the rest didn’t matter as such. Now I just need an excuse to throw a party!”Charlotte and Brian Ross
