The Father of the Bride
The Father of the Bride plays a pivotal role in one of the most significant days of his daughter’s life. As the day approaches, emotions run high, and it’s natural for him to experience a whirlwind of feelings. In this months Blog post, I want to share some of my ways of helping him.Feelings
How I Can Help…
As an experienced DJ and Master of Ceremonies, I understand the significance of this role and how it can impact the overall wedding experience. I aim to alleviate any worries or stress the Father of the Bride may have by ensuring that everything runs smoothly on the day. From the very beginning, I work closely with families to create a personalised timeline, so the couple and their loved ones can focus on enjoying the celebration. Even before the big day, I am available to helpwith ideas for speeches (often considered the “worst part” of the role), being on hand to guide and suggest, or just to be a sounding board.
I guide the proceedings with a gentle hand, allowing for moments of laughter, tears, and joy. Whether it’s coordinating between vendors, managing the flow of events, or simply providing reassurance during poignant moments, my goal is to ensure that the father feels supported and confident. I want him to enjoy the day and not to have to worry about the running of the day.
Moreover, I recognise the importance of music in setting the mood for the day. I curate a playlist that resonates with the couple’s story while also considering the Father of the Bride’s preferences. This way, he can enjoy the dance floor alongside family and friends without the burden of managing the entertainment himself. We can work together to look at ways to create “moments” that reflect some of the spotlight on him, such as an accompanying track for his entrance for the wedding breakfast. Some of the tracks I’ve used in the past for this include the Only Fools and Horses theme (his favourite show), Whatta Man by Salt n Peppa or You’re the Best Thing by The Style Council.
On this special day, I strive to create an atmosphere where emotions are freely expressed, allowing the Father of the Bride to feel every beat of the celebration. In essence, I aim to help him create lasting memories with his daughter and all those who have gathered to witness this beautiful union. A Father and Daughter dance is another example of a moment for the two of you. Again, tracks in the past for this have included, My Girl by the Temptations, I Loved Her First by Heartland, and You’re My Best Friend by Queen, along with several mashups.
As the big day unfolds, my presence ensures that he can be fully immersed in the joy of the occasion, celebrating not just the love between the couple but also the cherished bond between a father and his daughter. Together, we can turn this day into an unforgettable experience, allowing him to embrace the myriad of emotions and relish in the happiness that surrounds them.
We had booked Alan to be our wedding DJ after seeing him play at our friend’s wedding a year ago. We didn’t leave the dancefloor all night and knew he was the DJ for us!
We got married last Friday and I cannot express how brilliant Alan was. The dancefloor was full all evening and we had the time of our lives.
Throughout the planning process, Alan provided advice and suggestions based on his vast experience, which all paid off. We were able to request songs we wanted to be played on the night, and these were mixed brilliantly.
I couldn’t recommend Alan enough for a wedding or party – just brilliant!
