First Dance 2023

Your wedding is one of the most important days of your life, and as an experienced Wedding DJ, I understand this. For this reason, I want every moment to be as memorable for you as the last, including your first dance.

Some couples are very nervous about their first dance moment and don’t want to be the centre of attention. Perhaps one or both of you aren’t really dancers and are worried about stumbling or looking silly… please talk to me about your concerns and I’ll do my best to make you feel more at ease both before and on the big day itself. If it’s any comfort, I can truthfully say that every couple I’ve ever spoken to about it after the event has said they were so “in the moment” that they really didn’t notice everyone around them. It’s a chance to be together and hold each other, gaze into each other’s eyes and drift away… believe me, your day will fly by so fast, it’s nice to have this moment to yourselves.

Having said that, we can talk about ways to reduce the focus of attention from being on you. We can look to involve your wedding party or guests or other ways to make you feel more comfortable. We can even look at staged routines involving part of, or the whole wedding party or all of the guests, but more about that in another Blog post…

On the day, just before the first dance, I always take the time to make sure you’re ready and happy and to talk you through what will happen next. I make sure the photographer is in place, the venue staff know what’s going on and all of your guests know it’s going to happen. I set the stage.

Many people find that the song choice is obvious as they have a special song that they have in their relationship, but if this isn’t the case for you then you may need some more inspiration. I’ve added a list of some of the more popular first dance songs below. So, whether you’re looking for a song that says it all like At Last by Etta James or are Gavin and Stacey fans and want the iconic Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol, I’m here to help you fine-tune this moment to create another memorable moment to make up your wedding day.

Luckily, thanks to my vast experience in wedding entertainment, I have some great ideas for songs to set exactly the right tone for your special dance. We will be able to sit down and talk you through the options that you have, meaning that no matter what message you are trying to send with your choice of song, we are certain to be able to help you.

Your first dance really is a moment that you and your guests will remember for a long time, and together, we can make your choice of song absolutely perfect.
